ABOUT US: Carbon Consulting
What is Corporate Social Responsibility?
Many organisations are now implementing a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy - meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
Such strategies deliver benefits to the business and support the environment and local communities. However, in order for a CSR strategy to be effective, it must be aligned and embedded within an organisation’s corporate strategy. Parative believes that CRS is an investment that has the potential to positively affect its competitiveness, its growth potential and its risk profile.
Parative Carbon Consulting
Parative actively promotes ‘carbon consulting’ as an efficient and effective way of working both internally and with clients. Our aim is to reduce our carbon footprint. Our consultants communicate using Microsoft Lync 2010 or traditional conference lines that allow group meetings for all attendees to speak to each other, while webcams provide visual contact with clients. With Lync, all applications on a PC can be shared, meaning that we can give a presentation, display a video file, or even take control of the desktop as we talk you through an issue.
Allied to this, we encourage our clients to allow our consultants to undertake development from home or the office to reduce carbon emissions as well as ensure that our consultants have more of a work/life balance and do not wasting hours travelling. To help us achieve this, we offer clients a reduced rate to reflect the reduced cost of not send a consultant to site.
Parative Carbon Consulting combines responsible business practices with a desire for employees to enjoy a healthy work/life-balance and a desire to reduce its carbon footprint.
Managers: Our managers aim to build and maintain Parative’s reputation and brand as the company grows organically. They are also focussed in retaining skilled staff by investing heavily in their employee’s training and in encouraging a work/life balance.
Partners: Many larger Systems Integrators partner with Parative for the delivery of consultancy services to their clients. We ensure that when we are representing our partners on client sites, we adhere to their practices and code of ethics, promoting accountability and collaboration.
Employees: We treat our employees fairly and equally, ensuring that they have job security and that they keep their IT skills current with the latest technologies through time at home to read and study as well as through formal training sessions.
Parative and the Environment
IT has a dual role, both in becoming greener itself and in supporting and enabling the business’s environmental objectives. In addition to working with our clients to reduce our carbon footprint, we have also implemented a number of energy saving initiatives:
- We ensure that all non-essential electric and electronic devices are switched off every evening and at weekends.
- We ensuring that employees have the option to serve their community and give them the time to do that.
- We encourage employees to work from home to ensure well-being.
- We advocate our Carbon Consulting policy via email signatures and in all bid and quote work.
- We encourage employees to write a blog on their specialised technology to encourage debate on green technology.
- We ensure that our IT equipment and mobile phones are recycled.
- We support the carbon footprint reduction programmes of small business by promoting cloud based services.
- We advise clients on how they can use ‘green technology’ to be greener and stay green.
